"Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee."
— Isaiah 60:1 (KJV)
Some mornings, getting up feels like the hardest thing you will do all day. The to-do list is long, the heart is heavy, and the light feels far away.
Notice the order in this verse. God does not say, "Shine, and then your light will come." He says, "Arise, shine; for thy light is come." The light arrives first. Your rising is a response to what God has already done, not a performance to earn it.
You don't rise alone
When Isaiah spoke these words, God's people were weary and waiting. The call to arise came wrapped in a promise: His glory is risen upon you. The same is true today. You may feel too tired, too broken or too behind, but His light is not waiting on your strength.
"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." — Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)
A simple practice for this week
- Before your feet hit the floor, whisper: "Lord, Your light has come. Help me rise."
- Write Isaiah 60:1 on a sticky note and put it where you'll see it — your mirror, your desk, your dashboard.
- Share it. Text this verse to one woman who needs to hear it today.
A prayer
Father, on the days I don't feel like rising, remind me that Your light has already come. Lift my head, renew my strength, and let Your glory shine through me today. In Jesus' name, amen.
